The GSB Scholarship League, oganised an Annual program which is called, PILLARS OF STRENGTH.
This program is to formally invite the Mumbai donors and thank them, get some of the opinion / suggestions from them regarding the Scholarship to students.
Mumbai's well known, Oncologist, Dr.Ramakant Deshpande was the chief guest.
President of the League, Sri S.S.Bhat sought the blessings of Almighty and welcomed the audience,. Sri Ganesh Shanbhag, Secretary introduced the chief guest.
The Chairperson of the League, Smt.Gita R.Pai introduced the following 10 donors and requested them each to give their opinion on the League's workings / disbursement of funds, and fund collection. There were very good suggestions from the donors.
Sri G.M.Kamat carried League's report which was printed in 1919 and said that the 2 Annas given to the applicant student in that year was perhaps much more valuable that Rs.3,000 given for the students now. Gurudutt Gaitonde, Vasant Kamath and Neela Shenvi suggested that those supported students should show their gratitude by supporting the League once they start earning.
Smt. Anita Pai said there are many newer courses for newer careers, which should be supported. Dr,Sudhakar Shenai, appreciated the work being done to help the needy students. Sri Kukkunoor Madhav Kini narrated his personal experience as to how he has benefitted from the League and the pleasure he gets in donating to the League.
It was interesting to listen to all the speakers. Smt.Gita Pai aptly answered all the doubts the donors had regarding the collection of funds and disbursal of funds.
Dr.Ramakant Deshpande had a lot of inputs , based on the donors suggestions. Deshpande feels, community is very generous, and the education has also become very expensive. So collecting more money and supporting more needy students should be a good step forward. He appreciated the creators of this League and appreciated the idea of supporting the education of the NEEDY.
All the guests were honoured. Dr.Niranjani Nayak & Sri Raghuveer Nayak were thanked for sponsoring this program.

GSB Scholarship League is over 112 years old with the sole mission to support the education of the Poor and NEEDY students. Prabhu Family Charitable Trust has the same ideas of helping the education of the needy. Since 2016 these two organisations have been jointly supporting many students, In the last 5 years 54 Engineering students have successfully completed their education and have got good placements. There was an investment of about Rs.26 Lakhs on these students. Smt. Gita R. Pai Chairperson of the GSB Scholarship League, gave these statistics, In her inaugural speech to the 70 odd PFTC students gathered in Canara College Hall during the PFTC’s MEET THE DONOR PROGRAM
Srinidhi sang Ganapati prayer to invoke the blessings of Lord. Ms. Poonam Prabhu, on behalf of the PFCT very charismatically told about the company QuestGlobal which Mr. Ajit Prabhu is heading. The students were amazed to know about Mr.Ajit Prabhu’s back ground which was simple and humble. She told, it is only good education and hard work that will lead to the desired destination of success. Mr. Niket Vice President of QuestGlobal in his brilliant speech told the students about discipline followed in the Navy, where he was earlier working, without wasting time and keeping the discipline and diligently working leads to the success. Mr.Suresh , Trustee, of PFCT requested the students to take an oath that they would support at least two students when they financially become independent, so that a day will come when the entire society will become fully educated.
Some final year students were asked to give feedback and their personal experience on getting PFCT support for all 4 years. How difficult it is to manage and how easily the 4 years of education were spent was the general opinion expressed by students. They were all full of praise to GSB Scholarship League and Prabhu Family Charitable Trust.
Smt.Gita Pai, Chairperson of the Scholarship League, thanked the Authorities of Canara High School, PFCT authorities, all the students present for making the program a wonderful one. All those present were asked to join for sumptuous lunch which was ready as students had to leave for their next destinations.
